Spicy Tuna Tartare

Fresh and colorful, the tuna tartare is simply made, and perfectly assembled. Eaten on small cutout pieces of toasted grain-bread this appetizer easily becomes a satisfying meal. Without the need to cook anything- besides toasting the bread- making this takes minutes.
It's important to be sure that the fish you are using is fresh; luckily I still live in a neighborhood with a great fish store and the tuna steaks are beautiful. If you are going to use a frozen tuna steak find out if it has been refrozen, and if it's fresh enough to eat raw. If you are going to pick up tuna steak from a fish market in whole foods or any supermarket make sure to ask for sushi grade tuna steaks and inquire on the freshness of it.
Ingredients
8 oz skin off sushi grade tuna steak
4 tbs. soy sauce
2 tbs. toasted sesame oil
2 tsp. wasabi powder
2 tbs. toasted sesame seeds
2 tsp. toasted black sesame seeds
1 firm & ripe avocado

Directions
1. Wash and dry the tuna steak. Remove any skin or fatty pieces. Small dice the tuna steak and set it aside in a small bowl.
2.In another bowl whisk the soy sauce, sesame oil, and wasabi powder.
3.add the diced tuna and gently mix. add the toasted sesame seeds. 4. with a fork mash the avocado well. spread the avocado on the cracker and top with a tbs of tartare.
Serve on well toasted tortillas, well toasted grain-bread,or crackers. Sprinkle black toasted sesame seeds before serving. serves: 8
