This is the pie of affliction. The process to make this lattice pie was tedious and time consuming. I unknowingly chose a recipe that took close to six hours to bake. I couldn't find a rolling pin, or a pin wheel (to cut the dough); I desperately disassembled my paper towel stand, and used the middle bar to roll it out! By the end of the exhausting process, I was on the floor praying for the pie to just finish itself! Despite the brutal baking experience, the pie still tasted incredible- possibly due to the large amount of butter the recipe called for. I posted this recipe to show what cooking and baking is all about. It's so easy to pick the wrong recipe to follow, or to make a mistake while following the right recipe. Cooking and baking are all about improvising. Whatever we are making, from instant oatmeal to prime rib, we are experimenting. Sometimes our experimenting ends in a complete flop, and sometimes, everything just works out perfectly.

Chana!! Ahhh. ! I am on the floor! This is an amazing piece of writing. So insightful, wise and hilarious! Every line is perfect. Not to mention the beautiful pictures from which it's obvious the pie was delicious! A real lesson to be learned! I'm just glad you didn't point fingers to the person who suggested this stupid recipe to begin with. :P xoxo
